Tiverton Area Communities Transition
(formerly Sampford Peverell and District Sustainable Villages)

About Us

Sustainable Villages started in 2008 in the village of Sampford Peverell, but it quickly involved people in the neighbouring villages of Halberton, Uplowman, Holcombe Rogus, Hockworthy and Burlescombe, Huntsham and Clayhanger, and more recently Uffculme then Tiverton.

At first all our efforts were aimed at raising awareness in our communities about climate change and peak oil. We have shown films, hosted talks, mounted exhibitions, held Energy Fairs, Food Fairs and Make Do and Mend days.

We have also organised visits to renewable energy sites, a landfill site, vegetable gardens and a forest garden.

People now feel the need to learn new skills. Tree pruning, tool sharpening, bicycle maintenance, knitting and patchwork, permaculture and cider making were all popular.

Other activities have been, the establishment of allotments, an annual apple juicing event and equipment to lend to local groups and individuals for juicing, apple tree planting in public places and a monthly on-line freecycle.

Please join us and bring your ideas and enthusiasm to create a truly sustainable future.

Please join our mailing list to keep up to date with current events and projects.
